<p><strong>Can Whole Tomatoes</strong>– These are the base of the salsa. Whole tomatoes give you a smoother, richer texture than pre-diced ones and deliver that classic tomato flavor. Keeping the juice adds extra depth and prevents the salsa from being too thick or dry.</p>



<p><strong>Can Rotel-&nbsp;</strong>Rotel adds a bold, slightly spicy kick thanks to the green chiles — plus it builds on that tomato base with some texture. It’s what gives this salsa that restaurant-style flavor without any extra chopping or cooking.</p>



<p><strong>Cilantro</strong>– Brings a bright, herby freshness that instantly makes the salsa taste homemade. It&#8217;s a must for that authentic flavor. </p>



<p><strong>Lime-</strong> Lime juice adds acidity, which balances the sweetness of the tomatoes and rounds out the salsa with a zesty, tangy finish.</p>



<p><strong>White Onion-</strong> Gives the salsa a savory backbone and a bit of crunch if you keep it chunky.</p>



<p><strong>Garlic-</strong> Brings depth and a subtle heat that works beautifully with the tomatoes and chiles. It&#8217;s a small addition with a big payoff.</p>

<li>In a blender, combine all ingredients.</li>



<li>Pulse until you get the consistency you like- I did about 15 pulses for a smooth consistency, but completely liquid. Fewer pulses will give a chunkier consistency. Test seasonings with tortilla chips and adjust if needed.</li>



<li>Refrigerate salsa for at least 1 hour. This will allow the ingredients to marinate better.</li>



<li>Serve with chips or use on tacos, burritos, eggs, nachos, etc. Enjoy!</li>

<li><strong>Heat Level</strong>: For a spicier salsa, add an extra jalapeño or use two serrano peppers instead of jalapeños. For a milder version, remove the seeds or use half a jalapeño.</li>



<li><strong>No Rotel?</strong> Substitute with two 10 oz cans of diced tomatoes and one small can of green chiles.</li>



<li><strong>No blender?</strong> Finely chop everything by hand for a chunky pico-style salsa (still delicious!) or use a food processor.</li>
</ul>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Storage</h4>



<p>Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The flavor improves as it sits, so feel free to make it ahead of time!</p>
