Description
There’s nothing quite like the fresh, zesty taste of homemade salsa — especially when it comes together in just 5 minutes with simple pantry staples and a few fresh ingredients. Whether you’re hosting a party, prepping for Taco Tuesday, or just craving a bold snack, this Best Ever 5-Minute Salsa is the recipe you’ll come back to over and over again.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1–28 oz can whole tomatoes, with juice
- 2–10 oz cans Rotel, diced tomatoes, and green chiles
- 1/2 cup cilantro
- 1/2 whole lime juice
- 1/4 cup white onion, chopped
- 1 garlic glove
- 1 whole jalapeno, stem removed
- 1/2 tsp salt (more to taste)
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
Instructions
- In a blender, combine all ingredients.
- Pulse until you get the consistency you like. I did about 15 pulses for a smooth consistency. Fewer pulses will give a chunkier consistency. Test seasonings with tortilla chips and adjust if needed.
- Refrigerate salsa for at least 1 hour. This will allow the ingredients to marinate better.
- Serve with chips or use on tacos, burritos, eggs, nachos, etc. Enjoy!
Notes
- Heat Level: For a spicier salsa, add an extra jalapeño or use two serrano peppers instead of jalapeños. For a milder version, remove the seeds or use half a jalapeño.
- No Rotel? Substitute with two 10 oz cans of diced tomatoes and one small can of green chiles.
- No blender? Finely chop everything by hand for a chunky pico-style salsa (still delicious!) or use a food processor.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The flavor improves as it sits, so feel free to make it ahead of time!
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
